Abstract

ObjectiveDigital transformation has become a necessary path for enterprise development in the context of digital economy. However, research on the effect of digital transformation on tourism enterprises is still insufficient, especially on the performance of small tourism enterprises (STEs) in this process and its impact, which needs to be further explored in depth.MethodsTaking the research data of 271 STEs in China as a sample, literature analysis, field interviews, and questionnaires were used to empirically test the impact of digital transformation on the business performance of STEs, as well as the mediating effect and moderating effect.ResultsThe study found that digital transformation and its constituent dimensions have a significant effect on the business performance of STEs; dynamic capabilities and its constituent dimensions have a mediating effect between digital transformation and the business performance of STEs; and the moderating effect of environmental uncertainty between digital transformation and the business performance of STEs is not significant.ConclusionsSTEs should focus on enhancing the effectiveness of digital marketing and deepening the application of digital services and emphasize the development and construction of enterprise dynamic capabilities. At the same time, the government should provide STEs with the necessary support and assistance to ensure the successful realization of their digital transformation.
