Abstract

This paper is intended to clarify a paradox: while the 1920’s and 30’s produced a welter of works on business cycle theories, and while it is acknowledged that the Stockholm School played a notable and original role in the theoretical context of this period, it seems to be diYcult to attribute a speciWc cycle theory to that School. We can show that such an identiWcation is possible, however, in the light of the works by the most systematic author in the School’s framework, Lundberg. Such an identiWcation focuses on a particular reconciliation of the theories of Keynes and Hayek. The intimate link between the constitution of a sequence method and a cycle theory nevertheless explains the ambiguities and the incomplete character of Lundberg’s eVort.
