Digital Transformation Process In Enterprises: A Qualitative Research

Abstract

The 4th Industrial Revolution, also called Industry 4.0, is a transformation process that is still ongoing today. Businesses that play a leading role in this process undergo significant changes in their organization and working structures. This study focused digital conversion is intended to determine the current status of these changes in the companies operating in Turkey. In this context, a 15-question interview with 8 different staff engineering positions in the company's management and employees operating in Turkey were carried out. The interview texts obtained are subjected to qualitative data analysis; The reasons for enterprises to turn to digital transformation, the stage of the process, the components of the transformation that are integrated into the business, in which departments the digital transformation studies are applied more intensively and the changes caused by the transformation in the personnel structure have been investigated. According to the findings, businesses need digital transformation to move their vision forward and stay competitive in market conditions. As its main benefits; Increased productivity, quality and customer satisfaction, accuracy and speed in decision making stand out. It has been observed that the departments active in the field of digital transformation are information technologies and production departments. Transformation also leads to changes in the competencies to be sought in employees and new professions related to digital technologies have started to come to the fore
