Artificial Intelligence and Its Influence on Interpersonal Communication in the 21st Century

Abstract

This mixed-methods study examined the influence of artificial intelligence on interpersonal communication in the twenty-first century. Following an exploratory sequential design, the research involved semi-structured interviews with 30 regular users of conversational AI systems, followed by a cross-sectional survey of 400 participants. Qualitative analysis revealed four central themes: emotional attachment as relational substitute, erosion of conflict tolerance, paradoxical loneliness, and compensatory disclosure.
