Colombia | Minería y conflictos en torno a la contaminación del agua: La experiencia de monitoreos hídricos comunitarios en La Guajira, Colombia

Abstract

La minería de gran escala produce conflictos socioambientales relacionados con la contaminación del agua, ante la cual, tanto Estados como empresas y comunidades han promovido monitoreos. Los empresariales y estatales se centran en el conocimiento experto que desvaloriza los monitoreos hídricos comunitarios (MHC), los cuales se basan en conocimientos locales, prácticas cotidianas y conocimientos técnicos fruto de la conformación de redes con diversos actores sociales, que evidencian la contaminación y el acaparamiento del agua. Argumentamos que se debe reconocer a los MHC, para un seguimiento integral de los efectos de la minería en el agua, y para evidenciar las implicaciones ambientales de la minería en contextos culturales y territoriales diferenciados.
