Two Cases from the Hybrid Cold War Era: The Israel-Hamas and the Ukraine-Russia Wars

Abstract

The 21st century is characterized as a new type of cold war era. It is thought that this new type of cold war has hybrid characteristics. The research question of this study is “Are 2023-2024 Israel-Hamas and 2022-2024 Ukraine-Russia wars samples for the Hybrid Cold War era?†Some literature is searched, and some news is used methodologically. The data is analyzed around the research question. Firstly, the Hybrid Cold War concept is explained, and the Israel-Hamas war and the Russia-Ukraine war are examined in the study. As a conclusion, these two wars can be samples for the Hybrid Cold War era because almost all hybrid war tactics have been used in these two wars. Moreover, the US and China, the two sides of this new Hybrid Cold War era, are different sides in these two wars.
