Abstract

This article explores the rise of alternative and subprime business finance and the implications for Main Street business owners. Drawing on their direct experience successfully lending to thousands of low-income and minority entrepreneurs across California, the authors reflect on the opportunities and challenges presented by this small business finance revolution and share some potential product and policy solutions.
