Abstract

Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is currently one of the fastest-growing municipal solid waste streams in Brazil. This study aims to identify the existing challenges in the Brazilian WEEE revaluation chain from the point of view of different stakeholders in the context of the transition to the circular economy. To this end, qualitative research was conducted, whose data were collected through semistructured interviews with different stakeholders (n = 12). Data analysis was performed using the SODA (Strategic Options Development Analysis) approach. The results pointed to the existence of challenges related to logistics, industry regulation, the consumer, the market, and EEE design. The research contributes to the analysis and decision-making regarding the addressing of solutions for the improvement of the chain by players in the public and private sectors that can contribute to the movement of the transition to the circular economy.
