Il potenziale impatto del turismo giovanile nel Mezzogiorno d?Italia: idee per nuove strategie di destagionalizzazione

Abstract

Una definizione completa di turismo giovanile l?ha stilata la World Tourism Orga-nisation, che lo intende come l?insieme dei viaggi indipendenti per un periodo inferiore ad un anno dei turisti di et? compresa tra 16 e29 anni, motivati da un desiderio di fare esperienze culturali, di vita e beneficiare di opportunit? di apprendimen-to formale e informale al di fuori del contesto abituale (UNWTO-WYSE 2011, 7). Sebbene sia considerato un mercato di nicchia, esso registra circa 200 milioni di viaggi e oltre 170 miliardi di dollari a livello mondiale. La crescita di questo mercato ? stata sicuramente favorita dal diffondersi di voli low cost a prezzi abbordabili. Il mezzo pi? efficiente per promuovere le destinazioni tra i giovani ? sicuramente internet. I giovani turisti tendono a comparare il maggior numero possibile di siti internet per confrontare i prezzi e scegliere le offerte pi? competitive, tenendo mol-to in considerazione le referenze di altri viaggiatori e utilizzando strumenti come TripAdvisor.
