Abstract

The notion of embeddedness is a theoretical construct that has interested scholars from several different disciplines at the last decades, since embeddedness advances our understanding of how social structure affects economic life.Transnational Corporations (TNCs) embeddedness, which necessitates the choice of spatial fixity, has been discussing parallel to the globalization process. It is so important the reasons and results of the choice of spatial fixity in spite of the increasing global flows as result of developments in communication and transportation technologies, actually is gained importance. There are many studies presenting different ways and different perspectives. At this point, the aim of this study is to propose an analytical framework for evaluating TNCs embeddedness by reconsidering the main studies on embeddedness and TNCs' embeddedness. Although existing literature on TNCs' embeddedness present different strategies in evaluation of embeddedness, this study different from others in terms of "not only taken into account TNC's characteristics but also host country's characteristics in the evaluation of embeddedness analysis". This study proposes three criterions as the base of analytical framework. These criterions are; general characteristics of TNCs and host countries, managerial/organizational control of TNC and production structure of TNCs and host countries.
