    Note: [Turkish Title] Not available [Turkish Abstract] Yirminci yüzyıl içinde Türkiye’nin iktisadi ve siyasal dönüşümünün öğretici bazı özellikleri vardır. Bu nedenle kalkınma yazını bağlamında Türkiye örneğine dikkatle bakmak gerekir. Bu yazıda bağımlı gelişme ve dünya sistemi analizleri çerçevesinde ortaya konulan semiperiferi kavramının değişik tanımları ve bu tanımlar ışığında Türkiye’nin semiperiferi olup olmadığı, özellikle Güney Avrupa ülkeleriyle yapılan karşılaştırmalar ışığında tartışılmaktadır. Sonuçta, Türkiye’nin iki dünya savaşı arasındaki dönemde, devletin ekonomiye müdahalesi sonucu semiperiferik ülkelerle yakınlaştığı, buna karşılık, İkinci Dünya Savaşı sonrasında özel sektör ve piyasa güçlerinin zayıflığı nedeniyle semiperiferik ülkelere göre geride kaldığı görülmekte, 1980 sonrası ise değişen dünya koşullarında hem Türkiye'nin önündeki olanakların çeşitlendiği hem de semiperiferi olmanın tanımının köklü bir değişikliğe uğradığı gerçeğinin altı çizilmektedir.
