Demanda de carburantes en las provincias españolas: Estimaciones por tipos de vehículos

Abstract

El objetivo principal de este trabajo es analizar la demanda de carburantes en las provincias de España utilizando datos de panel para el periodo 1999-2016. La investigación confirma que el consumo de carburantes es muy sensible al ingreso y menos sensible al precio. La aportación del estudio consiste en estimar las respuestas del consumo carburantes distinguiendo por tipos de combustibles y vehículos a cambios en los ingresos, precios, stock vehicular, red de carreteras y de la eficiencia de los combustibles. Se observa que la no inclusión de esta separación puede producir resultados erróneos sobre el compor-tamiento de la demanda de los combustibles, de los patrones de uso del automóvil y de sus consecuentes emisiones de gei. Los resultados cuestionan la política seguida en Europa de fijar menores impuestos para el diésel que para la gasolina.
