Transición de América Latina hacia la bioeconomía. Una comparación con países de la OCDE, la Unión Europea y los BRICS

Abstract

La bioeconomía basada en conocimiento (BBC) es un nuevo enfoque de la economía que se sustenta en la producción, utilización y conservación de los recursos biológicos a partir de la aplicación de conocimientos científicos, tecnología e innovaciones, para crear formas novedosas y eficientes en el uso de la biomasa, su finalidad es el desarrollo de alternativas tecnológicas que contribuyan a superar la dependencia de los recursos fósiles. Esta propuesta surge en el 2009 a iniciativa de la OCDE y la Unión Europea, el grado de avance en los distintos países ha estado en función de las características de sus Sistemas Nacionales de Innovación (SNI). En este artículo se caracteriza a los SNI de Latinoamérica con el fin de detectar los atributos actuales para adoptar la BBC. El estudio se basa en un análisis de clúster multivariado con 32 variables (socio-económicas, ambientales y científico-tecnológicas) que permiten comparar a los SNI latinoamericanos, con los de la OCDE, la UE y los BRICS.
