Variedades de capitalismo, implicaciones para el desarrollo de América Latina

Abstract

Este trabajo contribuye a la discusión sobre las variedades de capitalismo con la intención de aportar elementos al debate teórico sobre el desarrollo económico de América Latina y las modalidades nacionales seguidas a partir de sus trayectorias históricas. Se subraya la necesidad de identificar las dimensiones institucionales que explican la modulación del capitalismo en cada espacio nacional, con el objetivo de rebasar las posturas tradicionales que enfatizan la autonomía del mercado o, por otro lado, recla man la rectoría estatal. Para escapar a esa dicotomía se requiere advertir las diferencias ins titucionales en aras de rebasar la mera transposición de estrategias empresariales y políticas de desarrollo, funcionales en otros entornos, tanto de países desarrollados, como de países emergentes, lo que demanda adentrarse en las peculiaridades institucio nales de la región y examinar críticamente su trayectoria institucional.
