Abstract
Groundwater is a vital resource for drinking, agriculture, and industrial use in semi-arid regions of Banaskantha district of Gujarat. Due to increasing population, agricultural intensification, and industrial activities, groundwater quality in this region has been under stress. This study aims to analyze key physico-chemical parameters of groundwater samples collected from various locations across Banaskantha to assess its suitability for sustainable usage. Parameters such as pH, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Hardness were examined in accordance with BIS and WHO drinking water standards. The results revealed that while most parameters were within permissible limits in certain areas, elevated levels of TDS, hardness were detected in several zones, particularly in the northern and western parts of the district. Groundwater samples were manually collected from selected sources across different talukas of Banaskantha district, including borewells, handpumps, and open wells used for drinking and irrigation purposes. This manual collection approach ensured that all samples were representative of actual groundwater conditions at the time of collection, allowing for accurate water quality assessment. The main objective of this study is to identify the quality of ground water.
