Abstract

Herein, pure and Co-doped ZnS nanoparticles were successfully prepared via co-precipitation technique. Structural, morphological and optical properties of Co-doped ZnS nanoparticles were investigated. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The XRD patterns of samples confirmed the cubic crystal structure of ZnS. The lattice parameter, average crystallite size and micro-strain of samples have investigated using XRD patterns. The XRD results exhibited a lattice parameter decreases with increasing Co content. The micro-strain as function of Co content was observed in ZnS sample. The chemical species of the ZnS samples for various Co doping were studied using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The optical energy band gap was investigated using absorption spectra and found that a decrease in the energy band gap of ZnS.
