A Review on Diabetic Nephropathy

Abstract

Diabetes is the chronic metabolic disorder characterized by the elevated blood glucose levels. Undiagnosed and untreated over long period leads to several complications in which one of the complication is diabetic nephropathy. It occurs both in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Hypertension and hyperglycemia plays a key role in development of diabetic nephropathy. It is the leading cause for end stage renal disease. Pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy is still not fully understood.Initially diabetic nephropathy has no symptoms and it take 5to10 years to appear complication. This article discuss about the risk factors, pathogenesis, management.
