Prototype of Paving Stones Based on Construction and Demolition Waste

Abstract

This work addressed the problem of waste management, with an emphasis on the recycling of construction and demolition waste (CDW), through the application of 3D printing and injection molding technologies for the manufacture of eco-friendly paving stones. The results demonstrated the feasibility of producing functional materials that meet specific standards for properties such as water absorption and erosion resistance. However, the paving stones exhibited limitations in compressive strength, restricting their use to areas with low pedestrian traffic. The study concludes that the prototype is technically viable, economical, and environmentally friendly, reducing costs, utilizing waste, and mitigating the carbon footprint, thus demonstrating its potential to promote sustainable practices in the construction sector.
