Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of forest canopy cover dynamics using Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite imagery. We developed an integrated pipeline for preprocessing, computing Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), classifying Vegetation Canopy Cover (VCC), and analysing temporal trends. The methodology includes atmospheric correction, reprojection to WGS84, NDVI computation, VCC classification, and statistical trend analysis. Results demonstrate significant changes in forest cover over the study period, with detailed statistical insights and visualizations of spatial patterns. The findings provide valuable information for environmental monitoring and policymaking, highlighting areas of forest gain and loss through difference maps and time-series analyses.
