Abstract
The Hajj pilgrimage represents one of the most logistically and spiritually complex events in the world, involving millions of participants across geographically, temporally, and culturally diverse contexts. The emergence of Cognitive Digital Twin (CDT) technology offers a novel framework to simulate, monitor, and optimize the multidimensional aspects of the Hajj ecosystem in real time. Unlike conventional digital twins, CDTs integrate human-like cognitive functions, enabling systems to learn, reason, and adapt dynamically to changing scenarios such as crowd density, climate conditions, ritual schedules, and emergency responses. This paper presents a comprehensive framework for implementing a CDT in the Hajj context, focusing on ritual mapping, predictive crowd management, sustainable resource utilization, and ethically informed governance models. By synthesizing recent advancements in artificial intelligence, cyber-physical systems, and environmental sensing, the proposed CDT framework aligns with Industry 5.0 values fusing technological intelligence with human-centricity. The study also critically engages with ethical and philosophical implications, emphasizing cultural sensitivity, privacy, and posthuman perspectives. Ultimately, this research outlines how CDT can transform pilgrimage management, ensuring safety, sustainability, and a spiritually enriching experience for all pilgrims.
