Abstract

This study aimed at determining the efficiency of the developed Magadiitic aluminosilicate nanozeolites in the removal of lead, chromium and cadmium metal ions from aqueous solutions. The research demonstrated that the adsorbent is highly effective, achieving rapid lead, and slower chromium and cadmium removal at 97.24 %, 64.12 % and 39.6 % in just 15 minutes respectively. The optimal performance for lead, chromium and cadmium were achieved under specific conditions at a pH of 5 for 97 %, 94 % and 96 %, with adsorbent dosage of 0.02 g at 93.72 %, 53.23 and 36.80 % removal respectively. The optimum temperature was 25 °C with 98.06 %, 90.14 % and 73.28 % removal respectively. The process showed high efficiency across a range of initial and final concentrations of 5 ppm to 50 ppm with 25 ppm as the optimal concentration, having removal of 96.87 %, 58.82 % and 50.92 % for Pb²⁺, Cr3+ and Cd2+ respectively, confirming the material's strong affinity for lead ions.
