Studies on Room Temperature Impedance Analysis of Pure BFO-BT Ceramic

Abstract

The study explores the room-temperature impedance properties of 95BiFeO3–5BaTiO3 (95BFO-5BT) ceramic synthesized using the Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) Sol-Gel method. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the formation of a pure perovskite phase with a rhombohedral structure belonging to the R3c space group. The absence of secondary phases and the effective incorporation of BaTiO3 into the BiFeO3 lattice ensured enhanced structural stability. Impedance measurements revealed characteristic frequency-dependent behavior, with high impedance at low frequencies due to grain boundary effects, which decreased as frequency increased due to grain bulk contributions. The imaginary component of impedance (Z'') exhibited a broad peak, indicating relaxation phenomena attributed to defect dipoles and space charge effects at the grain boundaries. AC conductivity measurements demonstrated a frequency-dependent conduction mechanism, transitioning from DC-dominated conduction to polaronic hopping at higher frequencies.
