Exploring Solid Polymer Supported Reagents for Selective Oxidation of Aromatic Secondary Alcohols

Abstract

A comprehensive exploration of chemical kinetics, combined with other non-kinetic studies, provides valuable insights into reaction mechanisms. Reactions vary widely in their speed, ranging from rapid processes that occur within fractions of a second (even at the femto second level) to extremely slow reactions, such as the gradual rusting of iron. Between these extremes, there are reactions that proceed at a moderate pace, making them amenable to systematic study using suitable methods. In existing years, the resourceful applications of polymer-supported reagents have become more and more obvious. Inside the research laboratories of industries like agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries, scientists have adopted these compounds as classic tools, employing them systematically for the synthesis of diverse collections of small organic molecules intended for screening purposes. This analysis seeks to explain and underline the supreme importance of these promising materials in the ground of organic synthesis. in addition, it provides a complete collection of polymeric reagents that have been recently employed in various organic synthesis activities, offering a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners in the field [1-3]. The field of chemical kinetics has seen significant contributions from copious researchers. Pioneers such as Ludwig Ferdinand Wilhelmy, Wilhelm Ostwald, C. F. Wenzel, Louis Jacques Thenard, Pierre Eugene Marcelin Berthelot, Leon Pean de Saint-Gilles, Peter Waage, Harcourt, and others have made substantial advancements in this domain [4-5]. The attention of this review article is to study various oxidizing agents employed in studying the kinetics of oxidation processes in common, with a specific stress on the oxidation of medicinal drugs. In our research, we examine the rate of reaction using aromatic substituted alcohols by employing solid polymer-supported reagents, aided by an understanding of the oxidation mechanism. This approach contributes to a broader understanding of chemical kinetics, particularly in the context of drug oxidation.
