Abstract

Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar la importancia de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación, especialmente la Información Geográfica Voluntaria (VGI), como herramientas que pueden ayudar en los procesos de planificación y gestión del turismo. Así, se busca presentar y debatir las posibilidades que se abren a través del uso de VGI disponibles en diversas aplicaciones sociales y empresariales gratuitas y online que se encargan de difundir la localización de atracciones y negocios, así como de compartir registros en redes sociales de los principales aspectos de los destinos turísticos. Metodológicamente, se optó por adoptar una investigación cualitativa y exploratoria que se basó en una revisión bibliográfica en artículos publicados en revistas electrónicas, así como en libros, tesis, disertaciones, con el fin de identificar trabajos que aborden los temas relacionados con el turismo, la planificación, la innovación tecnológica, el inventario turístico y la Información Geográfica Voluntaria. Así, se concluye que, a partir de la utilización de las VGI, exploraciones en internet, almacenamiento y uso sistematizado de datos, se hace posible desarrollar inventarios turísticos en línea, lo que impulsará los procesos de planificación y la gestión de destinos.
