Cooperativas Turísticas del Norte de Quintana Roo: ¿procesos de sustentabilidad turística?

Abstract

La cooperación es una actividad fundamental para el desarrollo económico y social, incluido el sector turístico, donde los servicios son parte del atractivo de cualquier destino. Como organización social, permiten el cumplimiento de objetivos y metas que los individuos normalmente no lograrían. En el caso de las cooperativas turísticas que operan en espacios protegidos con atractivos turísticos, los ideales de cooperación social y conservación ecológica son la base de los valores compartidos. El objetivo del estudio fue analizar los procesos de gestión para la cooperación y la conservación en Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo. Se realizó un estudio cualitativo, con un guion de entrevistas a socios de las tres cooperativas turísticas de esta ciudad. Entre los resultados se determinó que el nivel educativo y la complementariedad con la pesquería son los factores determinantes para los niveles de cooperación intra e inter cooperativas, mientras que las instituciones públicas influyen en las actividades de conservación.
