El escenario turístico: Imaginarios e imágenes del destino turístico de Mazatlán, Sinaloa, México

Abstract

El turismo es una fuente de producción de imágenes e imaginarios, en este trabajo se analizan estos aspectos desde las diversas percepciones de los turistas estadounidenses y mexicanos que permiten elaborar escenarios turísticos de Mazatlán. En este destino turístico se han presentado eventos de crisis como; inseguridad y violencia desde el año 2008 al 2013 provocando contextos inseguros y una imagen dañada a este sitio. Luego de revisar los aportes teóricos sobre el papel de los imaginarios turísticos e imagen turística permite conjuntar elementos determinantes que ayuda a construir dichos escenarios. Para cumplir con lo anterior es necesario utilizar una metodología mixta dado a que se ocupa aplicar técnicas como: la encuesta y la narrativa, con una muestra de 234 turistas mexicanos y 66 estadounidenses con la intención de recopilar la información precisa de las percepciones sobre imaginarios turísticos, imagen turística y escenarios turísticos. Por último, los resultados presentan a las Playas, el Malecón y la Zona Dorada como las principales representaciones que orientan a percibirlas como los imaginarios, imágenes y escenarios turísticos importantes de Mazatlán.
