Fazendas de cacau: um ensaio sobre o turismo rural na região cacaueira do sul da Bahia

Abstract

O presente ensaio visa analisar o quadro do turismo rural na Costa do Cacau, no sul da Bahia, como uma via econômica para os produtores agrícolas das fazendas cacaueiras da região após a crise que se instalou com a vassoura-de-bruxa. A reconversão dos meios econômicos para a manutenção da dinâmica da região fez com que muitas das fazendas abrissem suas portas para a visitação de turistas. O denominado turismo rural ainda não possui um investimento marcante do poder público, tanto a nível nacional quanto municipal. Todavia, corresponde a um setor que merece um tratamento especial, tendo em vista que as fazendas expressam a dinâmica cultural, histórica e ambiental que permeiam a saga cacaueira, possibilitando ao turista a vivência e o contato com a base histórica da região, história esta que encanta os mais diversos públicos e é imortalizada nas obras de Jorge Amado.
