Geodiversidade e geoturismo urbano: estudo de caso em Santarém (PA)

Abstract

A geodiversidade é representada pelos elementos abióticos do meio físico. No Brasil é crescente o interesse pelo conjunto geológico-geomorfológico de valor patrimonial para uma determinada área. Os valores científicos, educacionais, e turísticos podem ser desenvolvidos e repassados através de atividades de geoturismo. Este é um segmento promissor que possui características específicas relacionadas com a geoconservação e a geodiversidade. O geoturismo surge como uma alternativa sustentável para o conhecimento da paisagem amazônica na região norte do país. A vertente do geoturismo urbano em cidades da Amazônia se enquadra na discussão da relação homem-ambiente. O objetivo desse artigo é apresentar um estudo de caso de práticas de geoturismo urbano em Santarém (Pará, Brasil) mostrando a correlação entre a constituição da cidade e a dinâmica da geomorfologia fluvial.
