Turismo residencial y espacio urbano: reflexiones teóricas

Abstract

El presente artículo es una aproximación a la discusión teórica sobre las implicancias del turismo residencial en el proceso de crecimiento urbano. A partir de la concepción del turismo residencial como práctica social productora, transformadora y consumidora de suelo urbano, se plantea una posible línea de análisis para el abordaje del tema. El desarrollo de esta modalidad turística y la manera en que se va plasmando en el crecimiento urbano, se encuentra fuertemente vinculado a la dinámica del mercado inmobiliario. Para desentrañar las lógicas de producción del espacio detrás de esta actividad se analizan los agentes sociales intervinientes, las estrategias y alianzas que éstos llevan a cabo y, las transformaciones que generan en el uso y la valorización del suelo urbano. A través de la revisión e interpretación de diversas fuentes académicas, este artículo propone construir, desde la geografía, un marco interpretativo para el debate en torno a la práctica turística y su incidencia en el crecimiento urbano.
