Días festivos, la relación directa con el incremento del turismo interno y su impacto con la dinamización de la economía del Ecuador

Abstract

El turismo interno es un dinamizador natural de la actividad turística de los países. En Ecuador, el turismo interno es un propulsor de la economía de muchos destinos emergentes y un incremento sustancial de los visitantes en los destinos convencionales. La contribución directa del sector turístico a la economía del país es de USD 2.124,3 millones (2,1% del PIB) en el año 2015. En relación al empleo, se genera una contribución directa de 146.500 empleos. Durante el año 2016, se dio un feriado largo de 5 días en el mes de noviembre, durante los festivos del día de los fieles difuntos y la independencia de la ciudad de Cuenca. Eso generó de acuerdo con cifras oficiales del estado, se generó USD 78 millones de dólares en gastos, que fue un 78% superior al del año anterior, y se realizaron 1.3 millones de viajes a nivel nacional durante ese feriado. Es importante mostrar el aporte de los festivos al incremento del turismo interno y su impacto en el mejoramiento sustancial de las microeconomías, especialmente en los destinos emergentes del Ecuador.
