O Desenvolvimento Do Turismo Na Ilha Da Madeira

Abstract

Com o desenvolvimento das tecnologias, o turismo transformou-se numa das mais importantes atividades da economia global. Ele constitui, de facto, a força vital para o desenvolvimento de muitos países, regiões ou localidades. Na Ilha da Madeira ele constitui o principal motor de desenvolvimento da atividade económica. A singularidade da ilha, associada especialmente à paisagem natural e cultural, atrai turistas de diversas partes do mundo. O turismo na Madeira teve o seu início no século XV. Porém, a atividade turística só assumiu uma maior consistência nos finais do século XVIII e princípios do século XIX. Os dois principais mercados emissores do turismo, desde o século XV, continuam a ser o Alemão e o Inglês. O presente artigo tem como objetivo principal examinar a história e o desenvolvimento do turismo na região.
