Turismo Y Aves Playeras Migratorias En La Patagonia Austral (Santa Cruz, Argentina): Lineamientos Para Minimizar El Disturbio Humano Y Ordenar La Actividad

Abstract

El estuario del río Gallegos constituye un área de importancia mundial para las aves playeras migratorias, lo cual permite desarrollar el turismo ornitológico, modalidad amigable con el ambiente, pero requiere una cuidadosa planificación, que compatibilice el disfrute de los usuarios y la conservación del recurso. Para ello, mediante una zonificación territorial, se destinaron sectores para uso público (educativo/recreativo/turístico) y otros, a conservar ambientes con menor intervención antrópica. Se estimó la Distancia Mínima de Aproximación, a la cual una persona puede acercarse a las aves antes de que estas cambien su comportamiento, evaluándose la respuesta en 4 especies. Se determinaron dos comportamientos: alerta y escape. La mayor frecuencia en alerta, para el conjunto de especies analizadas, fue entre los 40 y 50 m de distancia y para el escape entre 30 y 40 m. Como medida conservativa, se propone realizar las observaciones a 50 metros de las aves, lo cual provocaría el alerta del 40% de la comunidad. La conjunción de medidas de ordenamiento del espacio y distancias óptimas de acercamiento a las aves pueden contribuir al desarrollo de prácticas turísticas que promuevan la conservación, produzcan bajo impacto y provean de beneficios sostenibles a sus habitantes.
