Abstract

El Turismo de salud es reconocido como una alternativa de turismo de rápido crecimiento en el mundo y esta evolución se debe a importantes cambios globales en las características del mercado, demográficas y estilos de vida unidos al interés de los destinos turísticos por desarrollar nuevos nichos de mercado. Es generalmente definido como el viaje de ocio lejos de casa donde una o la principal razón del turista es la de mejorar su estado de salud o someterse a una intervención o tratamiento médico y por tanto hace uso de instalaciones y servicios preparados con este propósito en el destino seleccionado (Goodrich, 1993).
