Turismo Rural-Cultural: El Caso Del Municipio De San Juan La Laguna, Guatemala

Abstract

El turismo es un fenómeno social moderno que reviste importancia en la economía del mundo y en el caso de Guatemala, no es la excepción. Este hecho social se caracteriza por su complejidad; empero se le considera una alternativa socio-económica capaz de propiciar la integración de sectores sociales ubicados en espacios geográficos denominados como medios rurales. Esta actividad presenta diversidad de tipologías. Se puede hablar de turismo de masas, turismo de enclave, turismo social, turismo rural comunitario, entre otras denominaciones. Dada la magnitud de esa actividad económica, el turismo en Centroamérica se ha proyectado como una nueva fuente de generación de capital que, en el caso de Guatemala, se ha convertido en la segunda fuente de ingreso, superada sólo por las remesas familiares. No obstante, esta actividad es superior a la producción cafetalera que es muy tradicional no sólo en Guatemala, sino en otros países del área.
