Abstract

Este trabajo analizó y evaluó las estrategias de desarrollo turístico propuestas por los tres órdenes de gobierno y las sugeridas por organismos internacionales, durante los años 2000 - 2008 en beneficio de Chetumal, Q. Roo. Las estrategias de gobierno compiladas en Instrumentos de Planeación (IP), tienen por objeto ofrecer oportunidades de desarrollo para la ciudad de Chetumal, con proyección en distintas escalas espaciales (municipal, estatal, federal e internacional). Éstas, son reformadas a través del tiempo en función de las tendencias de cambio global y los intereses políticos, económicos y sociales locales. Sin embargo, no existía un método de evaluación que persiga el objetivo de valorar su orientación hacia la sustentabilidad.
