Abstract

El turismo creció vertiginosamente a partir de 1994, año en que se crea el Ministerio el Turismo (MINTUR) y su ritmo de crecimiento se ha mantenido. Durante estos años se ha fortalecido como uno de los principales sectores de la economía del país; sin embargo, los ingresos por turistas disminuyen de forma absoluta, compor-tamiento que se mantiene en los últimos años, lo que indica la escasez y poca variedad de ofertas extrahotele-ras que incentiven la participación y consecuentes gastos de los turistas, aspecto este que viene afectando la rentabilidad de las instalaciones.
