Abstract

Barueri está localizada no Estado de São Paulo, dentro da região metropolitana da Grande São Paulo (29 km da Capital). De acordo com as informações da Revista Winners, Barueri surgiu como uma aldeia indígena em 1560 fundada pelo Padre José de Anchieta, quando construiu a Capela de Nossa Senhora da Escada as margens do Rio Tietê. O aldeamento de “Baruery” teve um rápido crescimento e sobreviveu aos ataques dos bandeirantes que aprisionavam a população indígena para mão-de-obra escrava. Pertencia ao Município e Comarca de Santana de Parnaíba. No ano de 1870 é dado início a construção da Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana. Apenas cinco anos depois, Barueri ganhou uma estação com a inauguração do primeiro trecho, passando a ser ponto de ligação importante entre a cidade de São Paulo, Santana de Parnaíba e Pirapora de Bom Jesus. Nesta época o desenvolvimento começa a chegar à cidade, já que os lavradores se beneficiam da ferrovia e tornam-se comerciantes.
