La circulación, espacio de la acción social

Abstract

Individuos, grupos y comunidades móviles, que se desplazan de unos lugares a otros, presentan acciones sociales de manera espacial, sugiriendo ideas sobre la compresión del espacio y tiempo en sociedades contemporáneas (Giddens 1991; Harvey 1989; y Castells 1996). Como la producción y percepción del espacio están cambiando en la medida en que se accede más fácil y rápidamente a las distancias, eso redimensiona intercambios sociales, transacciones económicas y ritmos de vida. Sus consecuencias han sido debatidas para entender mejor las articulaciones espaciales local/global y los procesos regionales e internacionales, especialmente porque provocan enormes conflictos, inseguridad e inestabilidad; y aumentan las desigualdades sociales y espaciales. En esta reflexión sobre circulación física de personas, objetos, capitales e informaciones, que por cualquier medio cambian de lugar o se intercambian entre lugares, se ofrece una perspectiva de la dimensión social del espacio; la transformación espacial que supone cualquier cambio social; y de la circulación física como espacio de la acción social.
