Chat y juventud: una aproximación cualitativa

Abstract

En el segundo semestre del 2006, usando Grupos de Enfoque y Escalas de Actitudes, se entrevistó a 45 jóvenes de 18 a 20 años, de la Escuela de Comunicación de la Universidad del Mayab, sobre su percepción y vinculación con el Chat. Sus respuestas revelan una forma diferente de ver y entender la sociedad, así como una nueva tendencia en la socialización del joven. Reconocen peligros, excesos, aislamiento y su responsabilidad, pero también incluyen a los padres, la escuela y la sociedad. Ante los problemas naturales que confronta el adolescente, es fundamental la búsqueda de un espacio de pertenencia. Se concluye que los roles que juegan en el Chat les permiten construir su identidad y un significado en la vida. La persona, y no la tecnología, es responsable de su propia intimidad e identidad.
