Abstract

La deserción de los estudios universitarios, es una situación social que se genera con mucha frecuencia en la Educación Superior internacional. Son diversas las acusas que lo provocan según señalan diferentes estudios. Entre ellas resultan recurrentes dificultades de índole económico, poco interés de los estudiantes por el estudio, ambiente familiar no proclive a incentivar la formación a ese nivel entre otros. Pero, en tiempos de pandemia provocada por Covid-19 esta situación toma otro carácter. El objetivo de la presente contribución radica en la identificación y análisis del comportamiento de los efectos de la pandemia sobre la deserción escolar en la Facultad de Ingeniería Agrícola en la Universidad Técnica de Manabí. Para ello, se realiza el análisis cualitativo con apoyo estadístico de las deserciones producidas en el periodo de los años 2017-2020, y se introducen instrumentos como entrevistas con estudiantes que abandonan sus estudios. Se brinda una serie de datos comparativos y algunas reflexiones que se sirven a la toma de decisiones que pueden ser valiosas no solo a la facultad y Universidad, sino a las instituciones de Educación superior.
