Abstract

En México el 94.9% de los establecimientos son de tamaño micro, teniendo el 37.2% del personal ocupado. Por su parte, las pequeñas y medianas empresas representan el 4.9% del total y concentran el 30.7% de las personas ocupadas (INEGI 2019). Debido a la gran importancia que tienen estas empresas en las economías nacionales y locales surge el interés de realizar una investigación sobre la caracterización de las micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas del municipio de Tejupilco, Estado de México. El estudio fue de tipo descriptivo, con un enfoque cuantitativo, mientras que su diseño fue no experimental de corte transversal. Se utilizó el muestreo probabilístico con un margen de error del 5% y un nivel de confianza del 95%. Cabe destacar que el instrumento fue basado en la encuesta realizada por el INEGI en el año de 1993 a las micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas. Los resultados obtenidos en esta investigación demuestran que las micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas tienen como propietarios empresarios jóvenes, teniendo una antigüedad promedio en el mercado de 5.5 años. Asimismo, son negocios dedicados a las ventas al por menor y satisfacen las necesidades básicas de consumo local, difícilmente se especializan en productos y/o servicios, además de que carecen de financiamiento.
