Abstract

El Caribe es una región llena de acontecimientos artísticos y culturales de gran transcendencia que le otorgan merecida fama. La geografía cultural del Caribe es el resultado de procesos sociales, donde los encuentros étnicos son una condicionante histórica. Las fiestas populares del Caribe juegan un importante papel en la conformación de la identidad cultural caribeña, por su carácter esencialmente transcultural. Por la vitalidad que en la actualidad poseen, merecen una mirada crítica para preservar de ellas sus valores auténticos. El presente estudio determina la influencia de las fiestas populares en las costumbres y tradiciones del Caribe.
