El catolicismo en Moa; génesis y desarrollo histórico, perspectivas socioculturales actuales

Abstract

La conquista y colonización de Cuba por los españoles trajo consigo demás de la transculturación, la adopción de una nueva creencia religiosa: el catolicismo. Con este proceso, de choque cultural, se crearon instituciones eclesiásticas en el país que han tenido una notable influencia en la sociedad. En Cuba la religión católica junto a la gran variedad de manifestaciones de corte protestante constituye las dos religiones, de corte cristiana de mayor importancia y significación social por el rol que han jugado en la conformación de la nacionalidad cubana.
