Pesquisa em Teoria da Escolha Pública

Abstract

O comportamento dos agentes políticos e as falhas de governo que afetam a vida das pessoas, justificam a realização de pesquisa sobre produção científica do tema Public Choice Theory. Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo identificar a produção científica no Brasil e no cenário internacional, que se fundamentaram na Teoria da Escolha Pública, no período de 2012 a 2016. A metodologia utilizada foi descritiva e quantitativa, com emprego de procedimentos de análise bibliométrica e bibliográfica. Os principais resultados obtidos apresentam evidências de que as pesquisas fundamentadas na Teoria da Escolha Pública são relevantes no âmbito internacional, com quantidades expressivas, mas ainda incipiente no cenário brasileiro. Os autores mais produtivos foram Geoffrey Brennan, James Buchanan, Paul Larkin e Pierre Lemieux. O detalhamento dos resultados também evidenciou que os periódicos de maior destaque ao tema são Public Choice e Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy.
