El ingenio azucarero e impacto social en Cuba tras la Primera Guerra Mundial

Abstract

La industria azucarera cubana tuvo un importante papel en la definición del proyecto económico, político y social de Cuba en correspondencia con el incremento de la inversión extranjera con significativa repercusión en las relaciones agrarias vinculadas al sector azucarero. Súmanse las disposiciones legislativas y jurídicas adoptadas por los gobiernos republicanos que estuvieron orientadas a estimular la producción y venta de la zafra en convenio con los diferentes intereses comerciales de la oligarquía doméstica y foránea dependientes de la bolsa internacional. La ponencia pretende explicar cómo la Primera Guerra Mundial repercutió en la relación industria azucarera – nación-sociedad cubana entre los años 1917-1925. Considerando aquellos factores que intervienen en el funcionamiento de la industria así y que repercuten en la nación cubana.
