Abstract

La globalización ha sido ampliamente estudiada desde diversas disciplinas discutiendo los procesos que de ella se derivan o desarrollan; en el presente ensayo se discute la influencia de la globalización en la estructura económica de las ciudades bajo el nuevo régimen de competencia global. En este enfoque se retoman los conceptos de espacio separadamente de los de región, distinguiendo el primero del segundo en que en éste se hace referencia al lugar delimitado geográficamente dónde se desarrollan y articulan los procesos que darán funcionamiento al espacio, es decir a la región.
