Abstract

En Japón, este espectáculo se instaló tempranamente, y su aceptación fue creciendo hasta alcanzar niveles de fanatismo, superiores incluso a los de Occidente. Hacia los años veinte, este país-potencia, creado como tal por la Inglaterra imperial para que, como discípulo y aliada, frenara el expansionismo del imperio de los zares en China –para afianzar el propio- disponía de una fuerte industria cinematográfica sólo comparable a la de Hollywood, a punto tal que la producción de films mudos, alcanzó los 800 y 900 anuales.
