El Sistema De Mérito Por Antigüedad Llega A Su Fin

Abstract

En el año 2000 yo dirigía la oficina de contratación de Fujitsu. Un día, un alumno de la Universidad de Tokio al que yo conocía me preguntó: «Ninguna empresa me propone empleo. ¿Qué tengo que hacer?» Le dí algunos consejos convencionales, pero tampoco le sirvieron para conseguir un puesto de trabajo. Al final se vio obligado a continuar estudiando un año más antes de pasar al mundo laboral. No se trataba de un caso especial. Recuerdo haber visto a bastantes alumnos de la Universidad de Tokio perfectamente vestidos con trajes azul marino para acudir resignadamente a las oficinas de contratación de muchas empresas cuando ya era verano, época en que normalmente irían vestidos con camisetas y estarían pendientes de sus vacaciones. Los jóvenes que se incorporaban al mercado laboral por primera vez en ese momento tuvieron que sentir una indescriptible sensación de impotencia.
