Abstract

No es desconocida la situación que legó la II Guerra Mundial a Japón: la posguerra recibió una nación devastada moral y económicamente. No se trataba únicamente de orgullo vencido, a ello se impone añadir el agravante de ser ocupado por fuerzas extranjeras sin oportunidad alguna de asistencia divina . A mediados de agosto el mensaje radial transmitido por el Emperador conminaba al pueblo japonés a que: (...) siguiendo la marcha de los acontecimientos, aceptéis lo insoportable y soportéis lo insufrible, hasta lograr una gran paz para todas las edades (...) .
