La producción de sacarosa en Cuba desde el siglo XVI hasta 1820

Abstract

En esta investigación se presentan elementos sobre la producción azucarera en Cuba desde el siglo XVI hasta 1820, a partir de un riguroso trabajo que nos llevó a consultar importantes libros de autores especializados en el tema. Sin lugar a dudas el estudio de esta rama de la economía cubana, es muy trascendente para comprender los procesos que se han dado en la isla. El trabajo ofrece un acercamiento a la historia de la industria azucarera cubana, profundizando en sus principales peculiaridades durante los años que comprende el artículo. Se ofrece una sistematización de las dispersas informaciones existentes sobre la producción de sacarosa y se develan datos de archivo que, en su conjunto, iluminan aspectos no conocidos de la industria. Entre los aportes ofrecidos por el trabajo se destaca las implicaciones que tuvo para la industria la guerra de independencia de Haití, así como otros temas de relevancia.
